Buntingford Tennis Club

The Tennis Club in Buntingford, Hertfordshire was the first official UK Modern Tennis Centre.

 

Welcome to those who have already started playing, paid and re-joined.

We are asking for £50 single membership for a whole year (April 09 to March 10) so that's just £1 a week for two sessions per week (50p) - we think that's a great offer to come along, have a game of tennis, fun, fresh air and exercise! You can download a form from this page.

We're now playing at Ward Freman School, Bowling Green Lane, as this gives us 3 tennis courts on Tuesday evenings from 6.30pm and Sunday mornings from 10am. We hope to be affliated with the LTA in the near future which will give us some future benefits for the club (maybe even some Wimbledon tickets).

We had a good fundraiser for the Club this month, washing cars with the Fire Service. We raised £300 and everyone enjoyed themselves

We have joined the Mens Hot Racquets League - if you're interested to play - please ask Rodney for more details on [rodney.helbig@gmail.com]. We'll be playing Mixed Matches against Barley, Braughing and Roydon over the coming months - please ask Brian ‎[bgibson61@btinternet.com]‎ or Liz [tacticstennis@hotmail.com]‎ for more details.

We will be running some Tournaments in the next few weeks - Saturday 20th June @ 2pm American Open Tournament and Sunday 12th July @ 10am Tennis followed by a (bring your own) Picnic (yes i'll bring the space hoppers again) more details to follow shortly.

What's On Offer Now

 

Tennis for everyone ... All tennis players are welcome of every standard. Please wear sports clothing and appropriate footwear though to avoid injury or damage to the courts. A full Coaching Programme has been established with weekly adult, junior, mini-tennis and tots tennis sessions (see photo!).  Please see our Programme for details, by clicking on the left in the left hand box. Private lessons are also available.

 

The new season!

Membership runs from 1st April 2009 - 31st March 2010. Prices are as follows:-

 

Family	£100
Single adult	£50
Adult pair (same address)	£90
Student (18 years plus)	£20
Junior (12 - 17 years)	£15
Under 12's	£10

 

You will be given a membership card attached to a new tennis ball keyring.

Please complete a membership form (downloadable here) together with your cheque made payable to 'Buntingford Tennis Club' and and drop it through the letterbox at 81 High Street, Buntingford.

 

Weekly activities

• Tuesday - Mixed club evening from 6.30pm for members to come and play
• Friday - Junior Coaching 6.15pm - £1 to non members – free to members
• Saturday - Junior coaching
• Sunday is Mixed Club Morning from 10.00am - members can simply turn up and play
• Coaching Groups for Adults and Juniors most days
• Turn up and play freedom for members when courts are un-booked

Want to get involved?

We would love to meet the people of Buntingford and its surrounding villages and towns, that want a Tennis Club in the town and might be interested in being on a Committee to help run Club nights and mornings, arrange matches for the adults and juniors, social events for adults and juniors etc.

Members can turn up and play any time during their membership, that the courts are free and not pre-booked. Please note you can only play with another member - not a non-member.

We are looking for Committee members to help run the club and support the longer term development plan for a facility at Edwinstree School. We're now meeting regularly so if you wish to join in, please let us know.

Our Longer Term Goals

 

Tennis Club Development Programme We are working on the development of a Tennis Club that will be a sectioned off area on the unused playing field at Edwinstree Middle School on Bowling Green Lane.
